2024 Joint Community Academy

Community Academy Logo-2023Get to know the Warrenton Police Department (WPD) and the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office (FSCO) in our nine-week course designed to introduce residents to the structure and daily operations of the WPD and FCSO.  This academy allows residents and community members to learn about various aspects of the Police Department and Sheriff’s Office.

2023 COMMUNITY ACADEMY CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF INTEREST FROM THE PUBLIC.

Accepting Applications from January 2024 through February 29, 2024.

The goal of the Community Academy is to increase the understanding between community members, the Police Department, and Sheriff’s Office through trust and education.

Although the program is offered at no cost, applicants must be a resident of Fauquier County, be at least 18 years old, pass a background check, be willing to attend a nine-week curriculum with graduation on the 10th week, and meet one evening each week.  We ask participants to volunteer at community events for at least ten hours per year post-graduation.  Participants selected from this competitive application process will have the unique opportunity to hear directly from subject matter experts in local law enforcement.

Once the academy class of 20 (maximum) is full, the enrollment process will be closed, and all remaining students will be placed on a waiting list.  If vacancies occur, they will be filled in the order the applications were received.

The academy will meet on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, for a nine-week period, with graduation on the tenth week.

The course will help you better understand your WPD and FCSO.  The members of the WPD and FCSO will share their knowledge and experience with you through presentations, tours, demonstrations, displays, and hands-on activities.
