Residents, property owners, and businesses located in the Town of Warrenton are subject to Town, County, State and Federal Taxes. Business License
All businesses are required to have a license to conduct business in the Town of Warrenton.

Consumer Utility Tax
The Town levies a consumer tax on electricity, natural gas, and telephone utilities. These taxes are collected by the utility company and remitted to the Town.

Lodging Tax
Businesses providing lodging on a short-term basis (a period less than 90 days) are required to register with the Finance Department for the collection of the Town Transient Occupancy Tax.

Meals Tax
Businesses selling prepared food and beverages in the Town are required to register with the Finance Department for the collection of the Town Meals Tax.

Personal Property Tax
Personal Property includes automobiles, trucks, trailers, mobile homes, aircraft, recreational vehicles, boats, business equipment, and machinery and tools. All personal property in the Town is assessed by the Fauquier County Commissioner of the Revenue.

Real Estate Tax
Tax on real estate is based on 100% of fair market value. All real estate in the Town is assessed by the Fauquier County Commissioner of the Revenue.
