As part of the Town of Warrenton's education and outreach program for the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permit, the Town seeks volunteers (individuals, groups or organizations) to participate in an Adopt a Stream program modeled after the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) stream program.

The program is designed to bring participation in clean water endeavors to a community and personal level by asking citizens to become actively involved in protecting our water resources.

The program consists of a minimum of two (2) stream clean-ups per year. The Town will provide clean up supplies and signs to designate adopted areas.

On Friday, April 13, 2018, Saint James' Episcopal School became the latest group to Adopt a Stream. The students, staff, parents, and friends of Saint James' Episcopal School participated in the clean-up efforts. It took fifty-five volunteers two hours to clean 1,000 feet of stream, bank and wetland areas. The weather was beautiful and everyone enjoyed eating pizza and playing frisbee afterwards. It was a memorable afternoon and it was great to spend time with the Saint James' Episcopal School families and friends while improving the environment. Congratulations!

On Saturday, March 17, 2018, Boy Scout Troop 180, a group of 20 Scouts and volunteers, braved the weather conditions to clean up the stream at the WARF between the parking lot and the soccer fields. The clean-up yielded approximately 700 pounds of trash and recyclables. Congratulations to Boy Scout Troop 180 for becoming the newest group to Adopt a Stream!
