BUILDING OFFICIAL (FULL-TIME):
The Department of Community Development is accepting applications for a Building Official to oversee and conduct building inspection and code enforcement activities. The position requires thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of building, electrical, plumbing, fire, mechanical and erosion control inspection activities and knowledge of building, construction, engineering and structural engineering principles and practices. Possession of a valid Virginia Driver's License is required. State certifications as a Building Maintenance Official, Building Official and Zoning Officer are required within one year of employment. Starting salary is $62,815 (may be higher depending on qualifications). Open until filled.
PARKS AND RECREATION
FRONT DESK ATTENDANT (PART-TIME):
The WARF is accepting applications for part-time Front Desk Attendants. Duties include greeting customers and members, handling cash, answering telephones, and using CSI software system. Applicant must be customer service oriented and possess basic computer skills. Weekend availability is a must. Position is part-time, approximately 15 - 20 hours per week. The WARF is hiring for year-round part-time lifeguard positions. Early morning, day, evening, and weekend shifts available. Starting rate is $9.00 per hour. Certification classes are offered periodically - contact the WARF for more information on the next class. Ongoing recruitment.
The WARF is accepting applications from nationally certified Fitness Instructors for the Warrenton Aquatic and Recreation Facility to teach a variety of fitness classes such as cycle, Pilates, ZumbaTM, yoga and water and land aerobics. Must be CPR and First Aid certified and able to interact with a wide variety of personalities. Hourly rate $15.00 - $25.00 per hour DOQ. Ongoing recruitment.
Receive a free WARF membership by volunteering in our child care center or by volunteering for maintenance duties for as little as 2 hours per week. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Background check required.
PUBLIC UTILITIES SUPERINTENDENT (FULL-TIME):
The Public Utilities Department is seeking qualified applicants for a Public Utilities Superintendent for the Transmission and Distribution Division. Performs difficult technical and responsible administrative work planning, scheduling and overseeing the maintenance, repair and construction of water distribution and sanitary sewer collection systems. Performs related work as required, including maintaining records and preparing reports. Candidates must be able to determine the best method and/or approach to completing maintenance and repair work, investigate water and sewer line breakage, stoppages and other failures to determine remedial action necessary. Applicants must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, consultants, contractors and the general public. Any combination of high school education and extensive experience (10 years experience a plus) including considerable supervisory experience is required. A valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license is required; CDL license preferred. Hiring range is $62,815 - $81,659 depending on qualifications. Open until filled.
MOTOR EQUIPMENT OPERATOR I (FULL-TIME):
The Public Works Department is accepting applications for a Motor Equipment Operator I to perform intermediate semi-skilled work operating light and medium size automotive and construction equipment on construction, maintenance and repair projects. Must possess a valid Virginia Commercial Driver's License; proof required prior to interview. Starting salary $33,321; open until filled.
MOTOR EQUIPMENT OPERATOR I /RELIEF DRIVER (FULL-TIME):
The Public Works Department is accepting applications for a Motor Equipment Operator I / Relief Driver to perform semi-skilled work operating light and medium size automotive and construction vehicles and related equipment. Primary duties as a Relief Driver are manual collection duties on the sanitation vehicles, and operation of sanitation and recycling vehicles as needed. Must possess a valid Virginia Commercial Driver's License; proof required prior to interview. Starting salary $33,321; open until filled.
SANITATION MAINTENANCE WORKER (FULL-TIME):
The Public Works Department is accepting applications for a Sanitation Maintenance Worker. Position is responsible for collecting and disposing of solid waste and operating packer equipment. Must possess a valid Virginia Driver's License; proof required at interview. Starting salary is $26,101. Open until filled.
SEASONAL MAINTENANCE WORKER (PART-TIME):
The Public Works Department is accepting applications for a part-time Seasonal Maintenance Worker to perform semi-skilled work.
